Group Ski Lessons VS Private Ski Lessons: Which Should you Choose?

Learning to ski is an exhilarating journey that is worth the thrill and adventure. Here at Shawnee Mountain, we offer both group ski lessons and private ski lessons. Some might wonder which ski lesson would be convenient for them. So, it’s my job now to help break down what each lesson entails!

So What’s the Difference?

Learning in a group setting can be less frightening, as you have peers around you who are at the same skill level, whether you’ve just picked up skis or have gone a couple of times before. There are two packages offered with group lessons: the beginner package and the first-time package.

The beginner package is designed for novice skiers/riders who would benefit from learning how to control their speed and change directions on the beginner hill. It includes an all-day lift ticket, rental equipment, and a 1-hour group lesson. The first-time package is for those who are new to skiing or snowboarding, or if it has been a long time since you have been on the slopes and you would like to start from the beginning. This package also includes an all-day lift ticket, rental equipment, and a 1-hour group lesson.

If you prefer a one-on-one learning experience, private lessons may be more beneficial for you. Many individuals find the personalized attention in private lessons to be more comforting, making it easier to learn to ski or ride.

Here at Shawnee, you can indulge in a private one-hour ski or snowboard lesson with a dedicated instructor exclusively for yourself or with your family/friends. These personalized sessions cater to all levels of skiing or snowboarding, offering customization based on your individual needs and areas you’d like to improve upon.
